Parenting Viability Assessments

Viability assessments are usually undertaken to consider the appropriateness of offering a full parenting assessment and are normally 2-3 weeks in length.

They may also be used where the known risks are very high, the case is in it's last stages of Care Proceedings and when other assessments have already been undertaken.

Viability assessments may also be undertaken where parents wish to be placed with their children in a residential family centre. The emphasis on this type of assessment is about establishing whether the parents have the potential to change and if so will this be within their children's timescales.
